Our inaugural January meetings will bring you together with your peers to help shape ILTA’s work on behalf of the industry in 2021. Join us online via the Zoom meeting platform for the new EHS&S Committee meetings on January 11-14, 2021. We will highlight new and ongoing environmental issues and regulations, and discuss terminal safety, sustainable terminal operations, pipelines, marine terminals, chemical security and cybersecurity, as well as the outlook for all of these issues in the new Biden administration. There will also be plenty of opportunities to discuss COVID-19 responses and compare notes with your industry peers.

Summary:  ILTA is launching a new, Board-directed initiative for 2021 to support member companies that are working to develop Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria and reporting.  Meeting participants will hear from an expert on ESG criteria with experience working in the tank and terminal sector.  Following this presentation, a roundtable discussion will allow members to share their company’s own experiences – and challenges – with developing and implementing ESG criteria for best results.  Common needs identified from this session will help ILTA determine its workplan for the ESG initiative.

Summary:  While ESG criteria are intended to apply throughout multiple enterprise elements, in practice a significant portion of the responsibility for developing and tracking ESG criteria falls on environmental compliance professionals.  The Environment Committee will continue the conversation initiated in the full committee meeting and build out the specific tasks that ILTA can usefully perform to help members fill out the “E” in ESG reporting.  Additionally, the committee will provide guidance to ILTA staff in the development of a “member toolkit” that member companies can draw from to support their education and outreach efforts to their community stakeholders and local officials.

Commander Nicolette Vaughan, US Coast Guard (CG-FAC-2) will provide an update of work underway at the U.S. Coast Guard on implementation of the new TWIC Reader Rule. The ILTA team will describe the latest outreach to key Coast Guard officials and highlight on-going industry preparations for compliance with the regulation. Finally, the subcommittee will be briefed on new cybersecurity requirements in MTSA Facility Security Plans for the review cycle beginning in October 2021. Subcommittee members will discuss possible means to address the new cybersecurity requirements at their facilities, and how ILTA can best support members in this process.
